On Tuesday, Sept. 29th we will be making Marbleized paper for the sketchbook cover. Marbleizing paper is a technique in which artists float paint on top of a starchy water solution called sizing. Once the paint is floating the artists may use combs or bamboo sticks to create swirled patterns. When the desired pattern is achieved the artist then dips a sheet of paper onto the painted water surface to transfer the paint on to the paper.
Here are some examples of marbleized paper.
